Guang Ming Whitley earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, cum laude, from the University of Southern California and a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School, where she was a member of Law Review and a moot court semi-finalist.

She taught at the University of Chicago and practiced intellectual property law with O’Melveny & Myers in Los Angeles. She was elected a Councilwoman for the Town of Mount Pleasant, SC in 2017 and was reelected in 2021. Guang Ming was a professor that the University of Chicago and Charleston School of Law, and is currently a Business Development Manager at the global law firm, O’Melveny & Myers.

Guang Ming is also a Liberty Fellow Class of 2025, a leadership program affiliated with the Aspen Institute’s Global Leadership Network.

Guang Ming is a longtime volunteer and speaker with ALA Girls State in both California and South Carolina and also serves as President of the Girls State Alumnae Foundation.
